Ok boys, Lets go!

Post  Bumpsbegone on Thu Sep 03, 2009 10:42 pm

Ok Boys let's go. Weve been sitting around doing nothing about this for long enough. We need to find a cure, and we need to find a cure soon for the sake of eachother. We need to get on the proactive and start finding a cure with all we can.

Thanks.
Start looking hard

We're not the ones doing 'nothing'! We're trying creams and lotions, scalpels and potions! (I'm tempted to make this entire post into a lame rhyme, but I'll resist). Please read up on available research, try things for yourself, and report back here! Thanks.

Ok for 1. anything topical is not going to work. MO were wasting time there.

And for two- the way I look at it we haven't found a cure and it's been over a year or two, I'm guessing were not doing enough.

So Lets Start Talking To Some Doctors And Lets Get Somewhere!

A year or two? Since what? Also Doctors don't care. They say it's normal and we need to ignore it.

theres quite a few topicals that have the potential to work, i just dont have the cash to try them quite yet. ill be coming into some cash soon, but i think im going to focus on a hair removal spray before i try anything directly for sp.

as far as trying to get docs involved, ive sent a few emails around, and ive only gotten responses from a few places. ive gotten a response from andro medical as far as asc-j9 is concerned, and im currently speaking with an LLLT expert about how we may be able to use cold lasers to atrophy the sebacous glands. people are doing thngs, but as bruce said, doctors will tell you its not a problem. for the most part, theyre right, but wed still like them gone im sure.

I've tried many things, usually it's just testing different minerals and vitamins as I think SP is caused by some sort of deficiency or an absorption problem is causing the deficiency. At the moment I'm taking a combination of zinc, Vitamin A&D, reducing my intake of junk food , only drinking water and oil pulling. I'm also considering a drug called Acnises oily skin capsules they look quite promising. Also a study has been done were a combine administration of azelaic acid, zinc sulphate and Vit. B6 resulted in a 90% inhibition of 5 alpha-reductase activity.

the ala, zinc sulph, and b6 study that reduced 5-ar was a lab dish study, and its never been formally studied on people, but thats besides the point. theres already a ton of products on the market that use this combination, the most popular of which being revivogen, which is something ive been talking about since the old forum. its a hair loss product thats largely considered a scam, mostly because its not been shown to actually work on people. revivogen itself refuses to put any studies on it themselves, because theyve never been able to prove that it does anything when applied topically. in any case, its one of the things ive wanted to try, but its really expensive, and i dont want to risk wasting so much money on something that has such an awful reputation.

What do you think of saw palmetto and beta Sitosterol they both supposedly block the coversion of testosterone into DHT which stops more oil being produced. A few people on acne.org say beta Sitosterol has stopped their oil production completely, only downside is they have nearly all reported a serious loss of sex drive.

5ar inhibitorsare risky business, but having taken beta sitosterol and saw palmetto for 6 months, i can say that it definitely did not do anything for my oil production. i was taking 400mg of beta sitosterol, and 250mg of standardized saw palmetto, which is a moderate dose all things considered, but i have naturally high testosterone levels, so it didnt make my balls hurt or give me tits. i gave it up because it wasnt making a difference in any way i wanted it to.

the problem with taking a 5ar inhibitor internally is that, in most cases, you end up with an upregulation in testosterone production, and a persistance 10% increase in free testosterone levels. this is why people who take one of the medical 5ar inhibitors end up getting bouts of acne every so often. not only this, but theres a notion that the lack of dht in the system upregulates androgen receptor sensitivity.

in annnnnny case, another product ive mentioned a few times is super zix. this is a beta sitosterol/saw palmetto based topical that this guy makes for hair loss. to the best of my knowledge, his kit is the only place you can get liquid beta sitosterol extract. his kit, which has most everything you need to make it yourself, is like 50 bean, and it would probably make more than 6 months supply. its one of the things ive wanted to try, but i dont have the money for it.

Yeah I agree, we're not getting anywhere! swilling oil around in your mouth for 20 minutes every morning? good luck with that! talking about eating lots of liver and what different tribes and cannabils eat? cool!

no, i think it's about time we join forces and get this problem actually out there. with all the cosmetic things they can do these days, treating sebaceous prominence can be done, we just need to make someone realise that it's worth doing.
